Q: Honda Accord?
i have a 1989 automatic honda accord. i was wondering what the difference is between drives 3 and 4.

A: drive 4 is overdrive- this is for when you are on the high way it saves gas. You will normally always drive in d4

Q: How is the 1997 Honda Accord Special Edition 4D different from the other accords?
I saw a ad for a 1997 Honda Accord Special Edition 4D. I was wondering what's special about this car, how is it different from the regular 1997 accord.

A: All the SE is, is a lx with some ex options. and maybe some different cosmetics

Q: How does the 2008 honda accord ex-l look in black?
I'm planning to buy a 2008 honda accord and I was just wondering how it looked in black. I haven't seen honda show it off so I was a bit concerned that It might not look to good. Honda usually shows off their metallic gray and midnight blue.

A: The Accord EX-L looks very nice in black. I saw one a coupe black EX-L the other day and just last week i saw a black EX-L sedan at the Honda dealer while getting my Prelude serviced. Sedan: http://www.autobase.com/photos/large/03650028.jpg Coupe: http://automobiles.honda.com/images/2008/accord-coupe/customize/base_car/BK_exl_34FRONT.jpg The reason you don't see them being show off though is because black has become a played out color for Honda, more people are buying the gray/blue/white cars nowadays than black.

Q: What is the difference between the Honda Accord and the Accord Euro?
I saw the new Accord is larger than the current (replace in June) Accord Euro in the dimension data but the prices of the Accord starts lower. Is it the same car with different body panel or where do Honda try to place the two models in the market? I am a non-Australian planning to buy a car.

A: The Euro Accord is the North American Acura TSX (which was said above). The basically have the same chassis, but the engine, body panels, and level of luxury are different. The 2008 Accord (N. American) is totally redesigned and the 2009 Acura TSX/ Euro Accord will again have the same basic platform as the N. American Accord. Here's the pics of the Euro Accord/ Acura TSX http://www.thetorquereport.com/2008/02/geneva_2008_preview_2009_euro.html . I think the reason why the 2008 Accord starts lower than the Euro Accord is because it's basically an Acura, and that is Honda's high-end car company. Acuras come standard with things that are optional on Hondas, so they can charge more for the car. I hope this helps you, good luck with your car search.

Q: Anyone know how to fix a 1996 Honda Accord spedometer that only works once in a while?
Our 1996 Honda Accord spedometer works only sometimes, usually at freeway speeds only. Someone replaced one part for me (can't remember which part, but it was supposed to be the major one that all Honda's have trouble with) but that didn't make a difference. I've heard there are two major parts, and now I probably need the other one? I also hear this "other" part is expensive. Anyone here have a similar problem, or a mechanic that can explain it? Thanks everyone!

A: I had the same issue in my girlfriends 97 Accord Ex. I replaced the speedometer cable and all was well. After replaceing the cable I tore the old one apart and it was heavily corroded causing it to catch. The other part would be the vehicle speed sensor in the top of the transmission on the passenger side. On the automatics, some people remove the senser to top off the fluid,If it is not seated correctly or damaged this can cause a bad reading. Both of these parts should be available new on eBay for cheap.

Q: How do I make my 1990 Honda Accord lx 4 dr go faster and about how much would it cost?
I just bought a 1990 Honda accord lx 4 dr about 6 month ago, and I have been recently thinking of tuning it so I can race my friends. I don't fell like spending more than two thousand on it, and I don't want go to a junk yard.

A: Get a manifold off ebay for a t3/t4 turbo for your car. Also get a t3/t4 turbo with an internal wastegate set to 7psi. Buy a cool sounding blow off valve like the turbo xs rfl (sounds like a whip) or a greddy type s. Get your local performance shop to install the kit (that will include 3" exaust, and a K&N intake system.). You could spend that much easily on just an exaust, intake, headers, maybe some underdrive pulleys, and a nitrous kit. The turbo kit will give you more power than that at all times for much less. Also you dont have to do any other upgrades at 7 psi. Then if you ever want to add more power you can do other upgrades (motor and fuel, larger valves, etc.) and simply turn up the boost untill your making 400 horse at the front wheels. Without those upgrades you will still have a kick ass, fast, and sweet sounding honda. Go turbo and you will never go back!

Q: How do you remove 1990 honda accord door panel?
I have a 1990 Honda Accord EX and Im putting in new Kicker ssmb65's. I attempted to take the door panels off one time, but I guess I couldnt find all of the screws/clips to take off.

A: Unsnap panel behind mirror from the top and remove. Open plastic screw cap inside door handle area using small thin screwdriver and remove screw. The cap swings from the narrow hinged side. It is easy to break. Slide handle assembly forward to release hooks. Lift out from panel slightly and release clip on linkage rod with small screwdriver. Unplug switch from assembly. Remove plug from inside armrest cup and remove screw. Look for plug covering screw below armrest and toward outer edge of door. Remove. Grab lower edge of panel near speaker grill and pull outward. Continue working toward outer edge, pulling lower edge of panel. When bottom is free, work up both sides unsnapping clips. When all clips are loose, lift up on the panel to remove from top track. You will need to unplug the window switches and the door light.

Q: I have a 91 honda accord sometimes the light for the sport mode will blink on and off and the car wont start?
I have a 91 honda accord sometimes the light for the sport mode will blink on and off and the car wont start.? I have a 91 honda accord sometimes the light for the sport mode will blink on and off and the car wont start? Anyone know anything about this?

A: I had a 90 accord with that sport button. When it blinks, I believe it's an issue with the transmission, though, I dont know why that would cause a no-start condition. I recommend you ask this question on www.honda-tech.com, or just search on that site.

Q: What matenance to I need on my 03 Honda Accord LX as I get more mileage?
A lot of my friends have told me that you can get a lot of miles out of a Honda Accord without doing much major maintenance along the way, other than oil changes. What are your takes on this. Right now I have 45k miles, but I plan on holding onto the car for atleast 4-5 more years.

A: I would take it in at least once a year for a all in all tune up this should keep her ticking like clock work. I have a 03 honda accord ex and it just rolled over 94,000 miles and she is still puurrrring I haven't had any problems with this car since I bought it back in 07. Best of luck to ya.. =)

Q: Where should I get my Honda Accord serviced - at Dealers or other autobody shop?
Some say you should get your car to the dealer for intermediate/major service, as against some say you should not go to the dealer because they charge way more and you can have same service at any autobody shop. My car Honda Accord has about 120K miles and have always been going to a dealer for service. The intermidiate service is due and I wonder should I go to dealer or try somo other auto body shops? Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks a bunch in advance!

A: The answer above me is true. Other shops work with all ranges of cars, american, german, and everything else. I'm not sure what you mean intermediate service, but if it includes bigger jobs such as timing belt jobs and other jobs then definitely Honda dealer. They know your car inside and out, literally. But for small jobs such as oil, fuel filter and simple jobs smaller shops will do the trick; but always keep in mind they may not be 100% knoweledable with your car.

Q: How come the heater of my 1991 honda accord wont work?
Hello I have a 1991 Honda Accord LX the AC works good, well the only thing with the AC is that once I turn it on the car starts rattling. But my Heater wont work at all.

A: your heater core is probably shot and your probably low on antifreeze...your engine may go soon if not later

Q: My honda accord 98 ex coupe heats when its in idle, but once i start driving it cools down. what is the prob?
My honda accord 98 ex coupe heats when its in idle, but once i start driving it cools down. What can be the problem?

A: Your electric radiator fan isnt working. At idle the fan is supposed to come on periodically to pull cool air through the radiator to cool the circulating coolant. The reason it cools down when you start moving is because your forcing your radiator to take on airflow simply because the vehicle is in motion. check for a blown fuse.. refer to owners manual to locate fuse box and identify which fuse to be inspected... if you need help go to a gas station or auto parts store.. good luck

Q: How hard would it be to change an automatic honda accord to a stick shift?
This is probably a stupid question, but i have a 2001 honda accord coupe with the vtec v6, i wanted to know if it was possible to swap the automatic tranmission with a manual. If it is possible, what modifications would i have to make? including the interior.... like the shifter and center console.

A: Honestly you can almost buy a manual for the cost of the conversion. The parts needed are: tranny, tranny mounts, ECU from the manual car, COMPLETE wiring harness from the manual car, hydraulic lines, clutch master cylinder, shift linkages, flywheel from the manual car, clutch assembly, the three pedal assembly because the brake in the automatic doesn't allow proper spacing for the clutch, shifter, shift boot, shift knob, center console for the manual, and various little odds and ends. After all is said and done you can expect about $5,000-$8,000 for the NEW parts and labor to get it done CORRECTLY AND SAFE.

Q: How much does a new starter cost for a 98 honda accord coupe?
Hey, i have a Honda Accord Coupe 1998. I need to replace my starter but the guy hasn't called back with an estimate yet and i'm trying to see the range of price i'm looking at, any help? Thanks.

A: See if you can get someone to do it and buy one from Autozone

Q: 1997 Honda Accord coupe steering making grinding noises when I turn the wheel?
I have a 1997 Honda Accord coupe, and when I turn the wheel it makes grinding noises when I almost hit the lock (end) of how far I can turn (example is making a u-turn). No problems turning the wheel, and the power steering fluid reserve is full.

A: if the noise happens when the car is moving then you're hitting theh wheel stop that prevent the wheel from rotating around. typically the wheel stop looks like the back of a cupped hand and its located on the lower control arm that comes off the strut. smear some grease on it and that will probably eliminate the noise. on some cars the noise is from the strut bearing on top. the strut bearing is located on the top of the strut tower. You can hear that noise if you stand on the side of the car with the hood open and then have someone turn the wheel until the noise comes in. the car doesn't need to be moving to hear a bad strut bearing. lastly, check the belt tension for the power steering belt as the belt may be slipping under the load of a full turn hope that helps
