Q: Buying a 2003 honda accord what do I need to know?
Hi. I'm thinking of buying a 2003 Honda Accord. I've heard they're great cars. What do I need to know/ask before I make this purchase? Thanks! I've heard there's one part in particular that needs to be changed frequently and which is pretty expensive. Any thoughts on that?

A: I think the other answers are right on, but I own an '03 Accord and I would ask if the LCD radio display has been replaced. There was a recall on it because the screens were going black (still functioning, but couldn't see) and they extended the warranty on that part... it would cost over $1k if they warranty was up. I don't know what part that's expensive that needs frequent changing. If you need other help, you can email me if you'd like.

Q: What is the whining and grinding noise coming from my 2003 Honda Accord EX?
I have a 2003 Honda Accord EX with a 4-cylinder engine and automatic transmission. During this past winter it has started making a loud whining noise when I back up and when I drive forward or brake, the car makes a loud, high-pitched metal grinding sound. The brake pads have been checked and are fine. What could be causing these noises? Does anyone else have these same issues with their Accords?

A: how long ago were the brake pads checked? Last winter? It could very well be that the brake pads have worn to the wear sensors if tis been a while since they were last checked. the wear sensors are on the inside brake pads and usually make the noise you describe when backing up. also, did they check the front and rear brake pads or only the front? You have rear brake pads on that car as well and they are usually the ones that wear out first because they start out thinner than the front. If they only checked the front have the back brake pads checked. I'm almost certain you'll find it is the brake pads. if you've had them replaced with non-Honda pads then that could be the problem as well. Non-Honda semi-metallic pads make horrible screeching noises so if the brakes were changed and they didn't use the Honda brake pads then the brakes would look thick enough but the problem would be that the material of the non-Honda pads are too hard and that's why you have the noise. If you change the brakes to the Honda pads you won't have the noise. hope that helps

Q: Where can I find a car stereo wiring diagram for 2003 Honda Accord?
Want to install an aftermarket radio in my 2003 Honda Accord. Where can I find the radio wire colors? Thanks.

Q: Best gas company to buy fuel from for 2003 honda accord ex coupe 4cyl?
I have a 2003 honda accord ex coupe 4 cyl and i'm wondering which company (mobil, 76, cheveron, etc.) has the best quality, mileage, and performance for that vehicle. Thanks.

A: I used to work for an oil company, and I can tell you that ALL gas comes from the same place, the only difference is the additive. Do note that no matter where you buy gas from, they are required to have some kind of additive in the fuel, although the major brands additives are superior. The best advice I've heard about fuel is to switch brands for a tank-full every 3-4 fill-ups. Each companies additive will leave SOME deposits, but the competitors additive should be different enough that it cleans the left behind deposits. I personally use Chevron, but about once a month I'll stray over to the Shell or 76 station. Also there is no reason to run higher octane then is recommended in your owners manual. You're not giving your car a "treat" by putting a tank full of supreme in it from time to time, so save your money and use the minimum required octane. Hope this helps!

Q: What could be causing the vibrating sound from my rear tire on my 2003 Honda Accord?
I have a 2003 Honda Accord. When I go in reverse, my car begings to make this weird vibrating sound. I have taken off the brakes and my rotors and brake pads are fine. What could be causing this sound? Could it be something else besides the brakes? I think that I might be misleading people with the term vibration. It is more of a high pitched squeaking sound . At first we thought that it might be a rock in the brake so it kind off sounds like that.

A: Think of vibration like motor noise fairly quick that changes with throttle. Because you are not driving very far or fast in reverse I would think a motor mount is weak and the motor moves to much and exhaust is hitting the back of the car Jump into the trunk and have someone back up and see what the tail pile does the tubing might be touching something.

Q: I have the same problem as Piperapper. My 2003 Honda Accord is also burning oil. What is my option?
Like Piperapper's 2003 Honda Accord, mine is also burning oil at a rate of 4L per 5000km. But if Honda's specs (as found out by Piperapper) is 1L per 1000km. What choices do I have ?

A: yea my Honda civic engine was burning oil and smoke was coming out of the hood when I drove it for a long time so I had a JDM engine swapped into mine with less km then what was on the original engine. Engine swap should be your last resort because my car was a 96 which is more then a decade old but your accord is only 2003 engine should still be good. Get a mechanic to check it out might be something little like a just leak in the tank or some electrical problems.

Q: Can I install an iPod on my 2003 honda accord with navigation without buying the honda link?
I have a 2003 Honda Accord EVXL with navigation. I would like to add an aux port for a mp3 player. Does the honda iPod link work on 2003 models with navigation? Is it worth it? Anyone have any different ideas? I was even thinking of getting the smaller 8 gb Creative Labs Zen Micro and saving $100 bucks. Anybody have a link for self installation of the aux cable? Would it still run through my cd changer? I have checked on line and see horrible reviews of the hondalink. I am not even sure i can use the hondalink on my 2003 accord. (it never comes up as an option on their website). ok... just got off the phone at honda (national number) and they told me that the music link is only for 2006 models.

A: this what I have and it runs around $80-90 US dollars http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/roadtrip/

Q: is honda accord 2003 v6 with 97000 miles a good buy?
hi, i was planning to buy a used 2003 honda accord ex v6. I have heard that there are some transmission problems with the car. is it true or just a false statement becoz otherwise honda accords are made to run over 200000 miles without any trouble. so is it a good buy????

A: It depends on a lot of things.....condition of the car overall, the service it has received. Cars now adays can go 200,000 miles plus. As far as the transmision, has it been serviced. It may just need a fluid and filter change, if it's and automatic. If your not sure take it to a mechanic and ask lots of questions. GOOD LUCK

Q: What are the common problems in Used Honda Accord 2003-04?
Question for Honda experts. I'm looking for 2003-04 Honda Accord, I understand that there were some automatic transmission problems earlier. Are those problems only limited to V6 models or 4-cylinder are involved too? What are the early signs of tranny problems? Harsh shifting? What else? Which engine is more trouble-free, V6 or 4-cylinder? Thank you for the answer.

A: There are two main problems with the earlier 7th generation (03-04) accord models. The first one is with the LCD display on the radio module going dark due to the faulty chip. Without the display it's really hard to operate the controls such as audio operations, ac/heater etc. The second one is with the automatic transmission on the V-6 models (only) due to the insufficient lubrication on the second gear. But, honda has acknowledged this problems and extended its warranty to 100,000 miles or 7 yrs. So if you buy a car that has under 100,000 miles, the honda dealership will fix these problems for free. For the radio, they will replace the circuit board and for the transmission, they will install new lubrications kit. But if there is enough damage on the transmission already, they'll tell you to replace the whole transmission. You might have to pay a part of it. And as for your other questions, the signs of tranny problems is the slipping of gears which causes the engine to rev high. 4-cylinder is definitely problem free but if you want more power get the V-6 version and have honda dealership fix it for free or just go with 05's

Q: 2003 Honda Accord Cruise Control Switch Failure?
I have a 2003 Honda Accord EX and the Cruise Control On/Off button on the steering wheel will not stay depressed. If I press the button, I feel it click and the light on the dash illumiates, but once I let go of the button, it just pops up. Does anyone know if this is repairable myself or how much a dealer would charge? I wouldn't even mind if I could just wire it "always on" (since it can be disengaged while on) but right now I can't even turn it on. Warrenty Expired January 2006.

A: Your 3yr/60000km comprehensive warranty would cover that repair. Check and see when exactly you purchased the vehicle. Even if you are out of warranty, sometimes 'goodwill' warranty can cover your repair if your warranty just expired within the month.....Good Luck !!

Q: Can I retrofit my 2003 Honda Accord with bluetooth?
It is a 2003 Accord EX with the GPS Nav system.

A: of course you could do it, you can do anything to any car, its just a matter of time and money, so basically if youre doing it yourself, good luck, but if youre having someone else do it then just tell them what you want out of it and they will tell you what they can do, and then do it, if its not exactly how you want it, then take it back and tell them its wrong, lots of places will work for you on things like this because theyre in the business of mod'ing cars, and alot of what they do relys on return customers providing more revenue.

Q: 2003 Honda Accord automatic transmission problem?
My 2003 Honda Accord has a automatic transmission problem. The car works fine in 1st, 2nd and Drive but it won't shift into the D-3 gear. If you lock it in 2nd and accelerate up to 40 MPH and then put it into Drive and let off it will slowly shift into Drive. After you are in Drive it will shift down to D-3 for passing. Does anyone know what the problem is and is it a simple fix or do I need a complete transmission rebuild?

A: There are shift solenoids that may be malfunctioning. Take it to a transmission place. Ammco, Cotmans and Atlas will do free diagnostics.

Q: How can I add more Horsepower to my 2003 Honda accord coupe without getting a turbo kit?
I want to add more HP to my Accord coupe but I dont want to get a turbo kit. (not yet anyway) I would like to add 40 HP to it but Im not sure how or if its even possible. I already plan to get a catback exhaust and a short ram intake but I know thats not gona bring it up 40 more HP. Any suggestions? The more details the better

A: they have a lot of after market parts for your car i would start off with the intake first you want to get more air in to your engine as possible it also makes a nice sound. what i did was pick a motor sport shop and work my way up the line with intake, pulley, headers, cat back , and performance chip on my Monte SS it took me a while but it was all worth the waiting. good luck with you 40 hp goal.

Q: Check Engine light on 2003 Honda Accord LX?
I have a 2003 Honda Accord Lx V-4 and the check engine light came on about 6 weeks ago and has stayed on. The car has over 110,000 miles on it but still runs great and has not needed any repairs. Is there anyway to turn off the light? The service engine soon light that comes on every so many miles can be turned off but I do not know abou the Yellow Check Engine Symbol.

A: The check engine light is on for a reason Your computer in your car turns that light on when it gets a trouble code. take your care to auto zone or a parts store near you Most can read your codes on your computer And tell you what is wrong. If you go to Auto zone, Pep boys, Advanced some chain store they read the codes for free Hint save some money that way. If you take it to a dealer right away The will charge you to do the same thing you could have had done for free. The code reader can also reset your check engine light to. If you remove the negative cable from the battery and leave it off for 5 min it will sometimes reset your computer.

A: go the canadian tire they sell an aftermarkt module for 24.99 and very to install you are prob getting a canadian inspection done right? at canadian tire they install it for 124.99 but do it your self
