Q: how much gas mileage does the 2002 HONDA CRV EX AWD gets in the City and Highway?
I need to know how much does the 02 CRV gets on city and highway gas mileage and what is the total average in both city and highway and what type of gas they use leaded, un-lead or plus. thank you.
A: According to the EPA estimates the automatic gets 24 MPG highway and 20 MPG city, while the manual gets 23 MPG highway and 19 MPG city.
Q: I need to replace the Fuel Ratio Sensor on my 2002 Honda CRV. Can you show me a picture of the Sensor?
Can you show a picture of the Fuel Ratio Sensor (O2 Sensor) on my 2002 Honda CRV? It is a very expensive Sensor that cost like $327.00
A: The "Fuel Ratio Sensor" on the CRV is actually the primary Oxygen Sensor. that sensor is located at the front of your catalytic converter under the car. You need an oxygen sensor wrench to remove it. the sensor in the center of the catalytic converter is the secondary oxygen sensor.
HOWEVER:
Before you go jumping into buying and replacing the sensor you need to know that Honda had a service bulletin on the air fuel ratio sensor for that model. If the reason you are replacing the sensor is that the check engine light is illuminated (malfunction indicator lamp in "ON") and the Diagnostic Trouble Code is P1163 or P1164 for a failure of the Air Fuel Ratio Sensor then the problem IS NOT with the sensor. The problem is a software issue with the programming for powertrain control module and not with the sensor. Honda has an updated program that can be re-flashed into your PCM to correct the software problem. It costs a heck of a lot less than replacing the sensor. If the problem is with either of those two codes then have your Honda dealer do the update instead of wasting your money on the sensor replacement.
hope that helps
Q: Once a frame is bent on a 2002 Honda CRV, is it still good?
Has anyone had any experience with having have car frame "straightened" - and told it is just as good as un-bent? I have always understood bent frames are never good as new. Easier to re-damage in that area? Lose value to vehicle? I would very much appreciate any advice.
A: The CR-V does not have a frame like trucks or larger SUV's. The CR-V has a unibody construction the same as most passenger cars built today. They are easier to straighten and a good shop will not leave any areas "wrinkled". The benefit to unibody construction is that damaged structural components can be individually replaced. The vehicle can definitely be brought back to safe standards. You should not feel unsafe getting back into it if you take it to a reputable collision center (dealer?). As far as it's value I find that accident-repaired vehicles sell for less than average; not because there is anything wrong with them but because people prefer non-accidented cars.
Q: Connecting an IPOD to the 2002 Honda CRV?
Honda offers an accessory for this. Has anyone used it? Is it an FM transmitter that will not work well in an area with a crowded FM band? Or does it work in some other way?
A: I believe a more modern device is available, not something that is FM based, according to the link below.
Q: How do i disengage the alarm on my 2002 honda crv after opening the door with the key?
A: Sometimes with hondas if you keep the key in and lock and unlock it again with the key it will shut off. Try that.
Q: I am looking for the belt diagram for a 2002 honda crv?
I took the belt off and I am not shure I got it on right.I need a picture of the alternator belt.(fan belt)
A: Look on the hood theres a sticker there
Q: OK to buy a 2002 Honda CRV LX demo model? It's a certified vehicle with 79,000mi for $9995.?
Is it OK to buy a 2002 Honda CRV LX with 79,000miles that was used as a dealer "demo" car for 9995.00? It has a clean carfax and is actually under a certified vehicle warranty (7yrs, 100,000 miles). Dealer got it straight from honda, so it was never purchased by anybody and they have the maintenance records.
What has been users experiences with cars used as dealer demos?
A: RW IS WRONG. Toyota is a LOT MORE. Anyways, That is a great deal considering the low mileage, and the fact that is was a $21,000 dollar vehicle at first. So i would DEFIANTLY say GO FOR IT!!! =]
Q: 2002 Honda CRV (93,500 miles) and 2001 Chevy Cavilier (53,000). Need to replace one, any advice?
I own a 2002 Honda CRV with 93,500 miles on it. I also own a 2001 Chevy Cavilier (4-door) with 53,000 miles on it. Both cars are in good condition. We use the Honda as the primary "family car". But, we commute (over 100 miles a day) with both cars. We are a family of 4 (with 2 small kids -- car seats) and are thinking to buy a new family car (4-wheel drive) this winter. I see advantages/ disadvantages to replacing each of the cars.
Replacing the CRV would give better trade in value. Replacing the Chevy would give two cars as 4-wheel drive. The new car would be the primary "family car." Which car would you replace and why?
Blue Book Values:
Chevy ~$3000.
Honda ~ $10,000.
A: The Honda will last longer.Keep it
Q: I have a 2002 Honda CRV with the code reading manufactuer control fuel air metering, what does it mean??
A: what is the code number. with a generic scanner it will give you the code /w that explaintion. give the code number then i can tell you.
Q: 2002 Honda CRV QUESTION? modifying?
i'm modifying my 02 CRV and i need to know where can i get a big jdm, oem or afermart funder that will fit my 2002 honda crv because i put a 20" rims on my CRV and its scrabing the funder when i seated three or two people on the rear seat. any help on website the offer a replacment funder. thank y'all
A: The short answer...you can't. Nobody sells a CRV with 20's.
You'll have to take it to a custom body shop and have it modified. or change the suspension.
The largest wheel that is recommended without clearance issues is 19".
I'd trade my wheels and tires in on something that won't scrub.
Q: please help. Honda CRV 2002 road noise and bumps? what should I do.?
so far I modified my 2002 Honda CRV and everything look great. I love the car and the car is awesome but one thing I dislike about the CRV is the road noises and the bumps. I hate when I hear every single road bumps. I had a 20" rims on it before and I change it to 18' and it still make that noise and bump and it make me crazy to hear that. so what should I do. I was thinking of lowering it by H&R springs and Blistein HD shock Absorber. so any help with be appreciated. thank you.
A: I see this alot and the cause is one of two things..........the tires are causing this or the tires are a cheap quality.
Q: I have a 2002 honda crv. My intake manafold is going bad is it worth changing now or wait til it stops working
A: Is it cracked? Because that's the only way it can "go bad". Are you talking about sensors on it that are going bad? What exactly is wrong with it? Whatever it is, should be fixed as a preventative measure rather than letting to go bad and making your car undriveable.
Q: What is best way to drive a 2002 Honda CRV with automatic on mountain freeways? Cruise cntrl? O/D off?
The car's owner is not accustomed to mountain driving and is concerned when the car shifts down when climbing a grade, especially in cruise control. The concern is wear and tear on the transmission.
A: There is cause for concern. It depends on how hard the engine is working in OD. If the person is CLIMBING a grade and is in OD and when they press the gas there is very little response (the engine seems unable to pull the car), then it's probably straining too hard in OD and it should be shut off. If the car is on a level freeway and not climbing, I think leaving in OD is okay.
Personally if it were my car, I'd switch OD "off" on any mountain grade or long climb and then turn it back on, on the leve portions of the mountain road.
Q: What is the best SYNTHETIC motor oil to use for a Honda CRV 2002?
A: Depends on who you ask. Amsoil or Mobil 1. I only use these two oils in my car and motorcycle. Do your research on the Amsoil site and search 'synthetic oil comparisons' on Yahoo.
Q: I have a 2002 Honda CRV-EX that has refused to start for my wife.?
My wife took our 2003 CRV out for a drive recently, she went about 20 miles, stopped at a local store. She came out about 10 minutes later, try to start the vehicle but it would not go. She got a jump start which got her going, the person who jump started the vehicle checked the battery with a voltage meter. He told my wife that the battery wasn't charging, he suggested a new battery. She and I have both started the vehicle since that break down successfully.
My wife has said that sometimes the radio losses the station when she goes over a bump, I think that there is a wire loose somewhere in the ignition-starter system. I will take it to our Honda shop near by but I am curious about the possible cause of this situation. I read in the owner's manual that other metal keys or metal wires near the ignition key can effect starting.
The CRV-EX started this morning without a problem, it sat out all night.
I took off both battery cables, they were not on very tight to the battery posts. I cleaned both battery posts and put the cables back on more tightly.
Next, I pulled on the car battery including the battery tray. The brace over the battery attached to the body of the car was not tight, I checked the back attachment which has a nut on top of a longer rod, that was not tight. I secured both attachments tight, I started the vehicle pulled off the postive battery cable from it's post and the car kept running.
Thanks very much your help.
A: Understand the the battery stores voltage, The alt generate elect. The car accually runs off the alt. That is why with the car running if you remove the +bat terminal and the car dies the alt is bad. It would indicate the car is running off of stored elect in the battery. Did that make sense. Next for the other issues. I have found that the majority of elec problems come down to a dirty, loose ground connections, broken wire or a shorted wire to ground. Because the radio acts up on bumps i would spend the time to check all common ground frist. Neg Bat to gropund (cable). Engine to frame, and some cases body to frame. I`m thinking this will resolve the issue. Have fun day.
