Q: Can the 2002 Honda Civic LX Sedan be fitted with side airbags for front and rear passengers?
Can the 2002 Honda Civic LX Sedan be fitted with side airbags for front and rear passengers? And is there any website that I can find such information? Thanks.
A: Theoretically, it is possible but definitely not feasable. It's not only the airbags that need to be installed, it's also the computer components and impact sensors that need to be added. It might be a little easier but still obsenely expensive if honda offered a standard Civic modification with additional airbags but in this case, it would be cheaper to sell your car and replace it with another model.
Q: What is the lifespan of a 2002 Honda Civic EX?
What is the lifespan of a 2002 Honda Civic EX (Si model in Canada) if well maintained, following the factory recommended maintenance schedule? I am currently driving it with 175,000 km and would like to know how much longer can it run for? Thanks.
A: Yeah, 300,000 is a good bet. Don't count on getting there without a few minor and maybe a moderate problem, but with the proper maintenance it should prove to be a dependable car through 300,000
Q: What is a fair price for this 2002 Honda Civic?
I am planning on buying a used 2002 Honda Civic LX from a private owner. The car has only had this one owner, and the car has been in one accident where someone rear-ended him. A new bumper was put on the car.
The car has an automatic transmission, power windows and doors, keyless entry, functioning air conditioning and radio, no scratches on the outside. It has about 43,000 miles on it.
The owner is asking for $9200 for the car which is a little more than I would want to spend. Is this a fair price or should the price be lower/higher?
I've consulted Kelly Blue Book but would like an educated estimate as well. Please only serious answers!
The car is a dark green and the interior is in great condition - the driver only drove it to a subway stop and back.
Also, I don't know if this would have an effect on the price, but the car (and me) is located right outside of Boston, Mass.
A: Depands on color condition of tires interior and whether its what you really want around 6500 to 7500 is a fair price in my area for that same vehicle!
Q: How to remove front speakers in 2002 Honda Civic Coupe?
I have a 2002 Honda Civic coupe and the drivers side speaker on the door is blown. How the heck do I take off the door skin to replace the speaker?????
A: go to 7thgencivic.com (it will redirect you to a new site) and go to the DIY section and you will see speaker installation with details and pictures or just search the forum for speaker installation and yuou will get lots and lots of information. I also have an 02 coupe and used this site religiously for many years while modifying my car, including speakers!
Q: How do I know if my clutch is going bad in my 2002 honda civic?
I have a 2002 Honda Civic manual transmission and I think my clutch might be going bad how can I know for sure?
A: get out on the street and when your doing about 15-20 mph shift to 4th and floor it. If the car revs up but doesn't seem to try and pull then the clutch is bad. If the car lugs and trys to pull the clutch is engaging and good.
Q: Where is the coolant temp sensor in a 2002 honda civic si?
I have a 2002 civic si 2.0 i-vtech. troble code on obd2 testor says coolant temp to low to regulate. Everything points to a bad sensor.but i dont know where to find it. Any help would be great thx.
A: the electronic coolant temp sensor should be in the right side of the cylinder head below the air cleaner bellows. Take the air cleaner off and look down to side of the cylinder head. The ECT has a two terminal connector on it.
If your diagnosis leads you to replacing the sensor you need to make sure that the o-ring for the sensor is replaced when you install the new sensor.
I think that the code for 'too low to regulate' could also be caused by an engine thermostat that is hung open.
hope that helps
Q: Can a Honda Civic 2002 ex coupe get its lower control arm bushing replace?
I have a 2002 honda civic ex coupe. And my front lower control arm bushing is wear out. Can I just replace the bushing for this car? or do I have to replace the whole control arm. (I heard some car control arm bushing cant be replace so i want to make sure before I order the bushing online.)
A: I had an acura (honda) and i had to replace the whole tierod because the bushing did not come separately. However, on my Nissan, the bushing did come separately. Since your car is a Honda, there maybe lots of cheaper aftermarket bushings and/or control arms available for your car and most garages can make this repair quickly and cheaply (labor).
Q: What would you pay for buying a 2002 Honda Civic EX 4-door sedan?
What would you pay for buying a 2002 Honda Civic EX 4-door sedan, 67,000 miles, single owner, well-maintained, one scratch on side of passenger door, Automatic transmission, FWD, power steering/windows/locks, keyless entry, CD player, cruise control, ABS, sun roof, front and side airbags, alarm system, snow tires with alloy wheels from a private seller? Or where would you start the negotiating price?
The seller is asking $10k for the vechile.
A: Wholesale reports
You would probably pay $1800 to $2000 above wholesale.. Hope this helps

Q: 2002 honda civic lx 1.7 lt engine replacement?
1> I am going to replace my honda civic engine. What years of engine i can use for 2002 civic? 2001 to 2004? It gives me more option while shopping.
2> How difficult it will be using haynes repair manual to swap engine. Something that can be done by ourself? Is there lot of technical stuff i will have to know to get it working.
What i am planning is i will buy enigne from junk yard and swap it my self. Get it working. And then take it to mechanic for fine tuning.
A: The interchange is 2001 through 2005 DX or LX type.Changing a front wheel drive engine is not the type of job to undertake at home.Any good shop can find a good used engine for that car.Make sure you get at least a 90 day warranty.I have a good used engine for your car,our yard is in Houston. You can find one locally on car-part.com...search by distanceIf you're in the Houston area, post back here...we can even do the installation.
Q: 2002 Honda Civic with ticking noise while at idle?
I have a 2002 Honda Civic that gets a low vibrating ticking noise while my car is idling. When I start driving it seems to not make any noise. Does anyone know what it could be?
A: Get your valves adjusted
Q: where can i find cheap front struts for 2002 honda civic?
im fixing a car and looking for the cheapest 2002 honda civic front struts... i found them for around 100$ each.. are they cheaper anywhere else.. online stores?
A: Two sites you should check out
Its unusual for struts to blow out on a 5 year old civic. typically they're good for much longer. usually you'll have tire cupping as an indication of a bad strut. you can't see when there is a gas leak from a cartridge but in most cases if the gas leaks out past a seal the oil follows shortly and you'll find oil leaking from the struts is about the only indication of a 'bad' strut other than the tire cupping.
Here are two references for you; I've used both and they seem to have the best prices and service levels
autoparts warehouse
http://www.autopartswarehouse.com
they have KYB struts for $87. that brand is one of the best; also available through tire rack

Hope that helps
Q: How to program a keyless entry remote for 2002 Honda Civic?
I just bought a 2002 Honda Civic LX. I want to get a key fob for keyless entry. Does the transmitter to use a key fob come standard on this model? And what model key fob would I need? Will it open the trunk/where should I look to see it the car has an actuator for this feature?
Also I went to Lowes to copy the key. They said since it has a chip in it I have to go to the dealer to get a key. I just wanted a copy for the doors, but they said "we're not allowed." Where is the cheapest place to get a copy with a chip, or is anyone "allowed" to copy a key with a transponder chip just for doors.
Thank you in advance!!
A: on the 2002 civic the Keyless Entry was standard on the EX model and an available dealer installed option on the LX model. the factory keyless entry could not be installed on the DX model because the DX has manual door locks.
If the car is an LX you need to have the dealer order and install the keyless entry system. (you can install it yourself if you're comfortable with working on the car and taking the dash panel apart; otherwise, have the dealer do it) The keyless entry includes the transceiver/control unit that is at the heart of the system and the remotes. The control unit plugs into the existing harness or uses a factory 'subharness' for all the connections. It is a factory accessory that is made for the car and requires no modifications to install. I had one installed on my daughters 2003 LX and you would never know it didn't come with the car.
On the key issue, the only place you can get the key is at a Honda dealer. The chip will have to be programmed to match the existing key if you want it to start the car. You can have the key duplicated to open the doors without starting the car by taking the key to any local locksmith and having them do it. Most locksmiths and all dealers require proof that you own the car before they will duplicate the key because of liability issues.
hope that answers your questions
Q: I just bought a 2002 honda civic and i was wondering what i can do to take it faster?
I am looking to boost the power on my 2002 civic. what can i do and where can i get the best deals?
A: you could get an adjustable muffler/tailpipe. you can adjust it to let more or less airflow in, thus increasing/decreasing torque and horsepower in the engine
Q: Can I take the seats out of my 2002 Honda Civic w/out triggering Air Bags or anything?
I have a 2002 Honda Civic. I would like to remove the passenger seat to clean the carpet underneath. One of my infants bottles somehow ended up under the seat and I didn't discover it for a few weeks. It leaked formula and I can't reach under the seat to clean it. TIA!!
A: take the battery cables off
no power/no air bags
Q: Where is 2002 Honda Civic Shift Solenoid for 2nd to 3rd shift located?
My 02 Honda civic shifts slowly from 2nd to 3rd gear at timess,
I was wondering if the solenoid that controls the shifting is sticking. Do you know which solenoid it is?
A: there are two solenoids used to shift the transmission. they are called 'Shift Solenoid A" and "Shift Solenoid B". The combination of these solenoids being turned either ON or OFF results in the fluid being directed through the different passages to result in the different gears.
the solenoids are located on the passenger side of the transmission case near the transmission mount. the two are together and are replaced as a set.
If you think they're sticking then the best thing to do (although Honda doesn't recommend it) is to have the transmission flushed using the machines that are designed to do that on car and that cycle the fluid through the transmission. Be sure to use the Hondamatic transmission fluid as the replacement fluid.
Hope that helps
