Q: Okay to compression start 2008 honda civic ex?
I just purchased a new Honda civic EX (2008, 5 speed). With my old car, I always roll-started it down my street (coast to about 20 mph, than pop the clutch in 2nd gear to start the engine.) Would it be okay to do it in my new car. It has a lot more electronics and such, and I want to make sure that a roll/compression start wouldn't damage anything!
A: replacing a starter is always going to be cheaper than replacing your clutch... think big picture... besides... you bought a quiet car... unless you have some one with super sonic hearing why bother? it isn't going to hurt the car if it is only done in a pinch.... but you will wear your clutch faster as well as your internals of your trans, as well as add un needed stress to other parts of the car i.e. c.v. shafts.
Q: How do I clean the instrument cover in my 2008 Honda Civic?
Hello. I have a 2008 Honda Civic with the digital speedometer on top of the dash. I had it cleaned at a carwash that used Armor All or something like it to clean the dash. On the plastic cover for the instruments there's all little dots and I cannot get out! I used windex, dish soap and scrubbed the crap out of it! Nothing works. Any ideas? Thanks!
A: Try a plastic polish such as Meguiar's Plast X. I assume your instruments are protected with clear plastic. Put a little on a microfiber towel and rub it on. Go back over with the dry side of the towel and buff it off. Be gentle as the plastic scratches easily.
Q: What kind of gas should I use for 2008 Honda Civic?
I have a 2008 Honda Civic Coupe EX. Which type of gas should I fill it up with?
A: just regular gas.
Q: Can anyone suggest a car top carrier for a 2008 Honda Civic 4 door?
Planning for vacation this summer, and just got a 2008 Honda Civic. Doesn't have a roof rack. Was hoping people could suggest cartop carriers that don't require roof racks that they have used with Civics in the past, especially newer models. I read somewhere that there could be issues with the passenger airbags and that I couldn't use hooks right into the side of the car b/c apparently newer honda civic models are very thin there. Any help would be appreciated.
A: you don't put carriers on small cars. First off the drag it will create will make your gas mileage go WAY UP. Then the weight of it will make your roof go WAY DOWN...
Get a rental van and do your car a favor and leave it at home.
Q: How much would you pay for a new 2008 Honda Civic?
I am really interested in buying a new 2008 Civic Sedan LX. They have great fuel mileage and a nice look. This will be my first new car. They are in such high demand in my area though. What can I do to get a good price? What is a good price? Or do you think getting a nice used one is better, but the only thing is they are the same price as the new one's? Please help this is all new to me!
Thanks in advance!
A: I got one for 16850 before tax and license...which i thought was a pretty good deal considering the sticker is over 18k. Cars are really cheap these days with the way the economy is, but i also live in So. Cal. which helps keep the prices lower. Good luck! you will love the car!
Q: is it hard to install a sound system on a 2008 honda civic sedan?
i have a 2008 honda civic with navi, since technology has been changing, is it really hard now to add some sub-woofers to my stock navi?
A: Best Buy can install anything in anything.
Q: How do you distinguish 2007 + 2008 Honda Civic?
How do you distinguish 2007+2008 Honda Civic by appearance? If 2007 and 2008 cars park in front of you, how do you tell which one is 2007 & the other one 2008? And what else difference btw the 2, in terms of features/mechanic?
A: look at the rims... look at the valve stem... 08 civics have t.p.m.s. other than that they are the same

Q: More power in a 2008 Honda Civic LX coupe?
I have a 4 month old 2008 Honda Civic LX coupe. It comes with a stock R18A1 1.8 L SOHC 16-Valve i-VTEC engine. It makes 140hp and 128lbs of torque. The power is transferred to the front wheels by a 5 speed automatic transmission. Outside of getting an air intake and exhaust, is there anyway of getting more horsepower?
A: I own an 08 Civic LX too....
An intake and an exhaust is only going to net you about 7-10hp at most, you won't get anymore then that out of it unless you do something like an ECU reflash, which is pointless really without lots of upgrades and really good parts. So to whoever said it will add 20hp, good luck with that.
The thing is, the Civic LX isn't a performance car, its an economy car, start adding a buncha things to add HP and you'll most likely reduce its economy. The one thing you can do to add some serious HP is go turbo, but that will likely cost you over $5,000 easily, and its definitely not something for the average driver. Wouldn't really do well on a Civic LX if you ask me.
I'm adding a short ram intake and a Skunk2 exhaust to mine at the end of this summer, but its more for the sound. I've seen the dyno results, you won't gain that much by using them together, but i do it on pretty much all my cars cause i love the sound.
Q: What size is the exhaust tip on a 2008 Honda Civic EX, and Si coupe?
I'm looking to replace the stock exhaust tip on my 2008 Civic LX (2.25"). I'm thinking a 3" to 3.5" tip would look good.
A: I wouldn't go larger than 3" or you'll just look silly.
Q: Questions about new 2008 Honda Civic sedan ?
I am looking to buy a new 2008 Honda Civic sedan LX automatic engine black color. My credit is good but I don't know the APR%
Approximately how much am I looking to pay for my new car monthly.
A: Since your buying a Honda, you should pay 50% interest.
Buy a 2008 Chevy Malibu instead
Q: why does 2008 honda civic dx have no audio?
i wanted to get the 2008 honda civic dx, but i see it comes with no am/fm radio or cd player. how is this possible?
A: The DX is the most basic (and for the most part) the most stripped of features Civic 1 can buy. But I thought it would come with at least an am/fm radio.
Its possible if thats what Honda chooses to not include with it.

Q: Can I buy a 2008 Honda Civic Si grill and switch it with an LX version?
So I just bought a 2008 Honda Civic LX but I despise the silver grill cover thing on it, can I buy a Honda Civic Si version where it's black and put it on there?
A: Yes, take a look here (http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/exterior-style-mods/35976-d-i-y-si-grill-lx-dx-ex-sedan.html).
Q: Where can I find the Seat covers for 2008 Honda Civic EX Sedan?
Where can I find the Seat covers for 2008 Honda Civic EX Sedan
I had bought the seat covers from Ebay but could not install them specially at the rear seats, where can I get the help to install them locally in Detroit Area, Michigan?
Please help
A: You may not want to put those seat covers on. Your car comes with side airbags that are located in the sides of the front seat seatbacks. The original upholstery has special seaming to allow the air bags to blast through the sewn in fabric panel when they deploy. If you put seat covers over them you will defeat the purpose of the airbags that are intended to fill the space between the passengers and the side door windows. Worse yet, if you put a seat cover on the seatback and the airbags were to deploy you might cause the airbag to be directed inward towards the passenger and actually blast the passenger forward into the windshield.
seat covers are a bad idea. From an installers standpoint they may have a legal liability if something happens during an airbag deployment and a passenger were injured or killed because you put a seat cover on. It may be hard to find someone willing to take that risk.
if you really want to have them installed, search in the yellow pages for Auto Interiors or Auto Upholsery. There are many shops that specialize in reupholstering interiors. You shouldn't have much of a problem finding one.
hope that helps
Q: Change display on radio on a 2008 Honda Civic LX?
So I recently got a 2008 Honda Civic LX and read in the manual that you can change the display on the radio to say the name of the song or who sings it or whatever but I cant figure it out. Does anyone have any idea how to do this?
A: On the LX you can only set the Welcome message that comes up when you enter the car. you can do that by following the instructions in the owner's manual (below)
Your audio system displays a welcome message on the display when you
turn the ignition switch to the ACCESSORY (I) or the ON (II) position. You can see a message ‘‘WELCOME’’ on the display when your vehicle was new.
You can also customize this welcome message to your liking with the audio controls.
You can set up to about 16 characters on the display.
To select a character:
Make sure the audio system is off.
Push and hold the TUNE knob, then push the power/volume knob on the audio control panel. You will see the first letter blinking
Turn the TUNE knob to change aletter.
Push the top of the SEEK button to select the next segment, then turn the TUNE knob to select a letter. Repeat this procedure to set your message.
To change the letter, select the previous segment by pushing the bottom of the SEEK button.
The system will return to the audio display about 5 seconds after you stop selecting a letter
as for having the artist and song displayed, you either have to have a subscription to XM radio or have the Navigation system with the Navi Audio set to Artist mode.
If you don't have XM radio or the Navi you won't be able to change the display to show the artist and song. However, you can still customize the welcome message.
hope that answers your question.
