Q: honda element?
I am going to buy a SUV. I am seriously considering the Honda element. I have never owned a Honda before. Would appreciate any comments you have.
A: Check the forums at http://www.elementownersclub.com...a friendly, active site with tons of information on buying and owning an Element. Check the FAQ section and be sure to do a "search" before posting a new question. Chances are it's been covered already.
Note: You don't have to go to the dealer to turn off the service light. There are instructions in the owner's manual or find the procedure on the EOC site.
Q: Is the 2004 Honda Element a good car for long term driving and gas mileage?
I drive a lot for work. My Toyota Camry caught on fire and is totaled. I found a 2004 Honda Element for 4,450 with pretty low mileage. Low mileage is important due to constant driving for work. I am not a huge fan on SUVs but the extra room could be beneficial with a growing family. Thoughts and opinions?
A: $4450 sounds pretty cheap for a low mileage 2004 Element, even if it's a 2wd DX model. I'd be a little suspicious. Make sure you check it out carefully, even things you might take for granted. For instance, make sure you get heat out of all of the dash vents. Otherwise it may have a plugged heater core even though the temp gauge is in the normal range...a $1200 repair. Check the forums at http://www.elementownersclub.com for real world experiences from fanatical owners.
Q: How much is a 2003 Honda Element with 56k miles worth?
The car is on its second owner. Comesmetically it looks fine.
2003 Honda Element with 56,000 miles.
How much is it worth?
A: One of the keys to pricing a car is to effectively rate the car as the price will vary widely based on condition and mileage. Mileage is pretty obvious. You should base condition on a Carfax report (which would also help catch any odometer fraud) and your own review. Before you buy your final step should be an inspection by a qualified mechanic - but that's too expensive to do on every car you look at.
There are a bunch of places to check car prices on the Internet. NADA guides is one - but since they are owned by the car dealers association I never recommend them. KBB is another. Driverside.com is a new site and they have a couple of extras - great data showing price based on mileage; DriverSide Estimate where they search actual listings to find what cars are actually selling for in local markets; and estimates for trade in pricing.

Also take a look a the DriverSide cost of ownership - service, gas, insurance and even depreciation to see how the price will drop over time. I find that most folks look at the one time sales price - not the ongoing costs which continue long after you buy your car.
Q: How often do I need the transmission serviced on a 2003 Honda Element?
I would like to know if and when a Honda Element's Transmission should be serviced. Also, if somebody could tell me the specific services required that would be very helpful.
A: reguardless of what others have said here i work for a honda dealer and in the book its like every120k which is to long if u ask me we try and get our customers to do it ever 30k since honda transmissions are known to give problems....every 7500 miles is crazy....u may want to think about a differental service if your element is a 4wd also...thats supposed to be done by the book every 30k and is pretty close in mileage as to where i see it burnning up...if it does u will hear a click when u make sharp turns in the rear of the vehicle
Q: How do I install a new air filter in a 2004 Honda Element?
How and where do I install a new air filter in my 2004 Honda Element? I lost my owner's manual.
A: Stay out from under a hood,if you don't know what you are doing.
Q: Is a Honda Element ideal for a couple with a 5 year old and 18 month old?
Does anyone out there have a Honda Element?
A: Biggest issues: The clamshell doors may grow to become a real nuisance over time, and the future of the Element may be unsure.
Take a look at the latest generation of the Scion xB. Like the Element it's big on the inside and small on the outside, is very well equipped, has a great safety record and Toyota build quality and reliability behind it. The Scion's lower height also means it's less likely to be blown around on windy days. On top of that, it has a conventional door arrangement, seats five, gets better gas mileage and is about $2000 cheaper out the door.
Scion has a true "no haggle" pricing policy which makes buying a lot easier. Just watch out for unnecessary add-ons like paint protectant that less-than-honorable dealers try to tack on.
Q: Where to find a Used Honda Element in Philadelphia?
Does anyone have any recommendations on places to visit around Philadelphia (within 60 miles) for a used Honda Element (any year)? I'm looking to spend under $10,000 for one. Any ideas?
I mean besides actual dealers. I was looking for suggestions on local Used-car dealerships, rather than Honda dealers.
A: The last place I would look for any car is at a used car dealer. Check ebay and Craig's List for Element listings from private owners. Also check the Trading Post forum at http://www.elementownersclub.com and sign up and post an inquiry in the Mid-Atlantic chapter forum. The EOC is a very active and friendly site.
Q: Should I get the roof rack and or a short roof box 2008 Honda Element EX?
I am looking into a 2008 Honda Element EX, and I am wonder what people's feelings are on whether or not to get a roof rack? I would get the roof rack simply for looks.
What about storage for trips, would you get a short roof box? Any advice on either of these questions would be great.
Thanks.
Does the '08 Element EX passanger seat have an arm rest?
A: I just got a 2008 Element (EX) and was considering the roof rack as part of the purchase but backed out of it.
In the first place, with the configurable seats and height of the interior, it's got lots of cargo space inside. (I was about to write "out of the elements, but in this case I guess it's really "in the Element.)
Secondly, if you look at the roof edges, there are punch outs for where the roof rack will go, so if you discover later that you really need it, adding it on is not really a hassle.
And if you're just doing it for looks, bah! "Looks" really don't factor into this car that looks a lot like my toaster.
Also, Honda's price for a roof rack seems a bit high, so check around with after market prices and save yourself some money.
Q: How long a surfboard can fit in the Honda Element ?
I am a longboard surfer and ride boards between 9'0 and 9'6". How well and specifically how would such a board fit INSIDE the Honda Element.
A: Take a board to the dealership
that way you can see if it would comfortably fit
Q: How much does a Honda Element Weigh?
I've been searching for the total weight for a Honda Element. Does any one know the total weight of a Honda Element or is there a website that some one can refer me to where I can find the total Weight???
Thanks,
Hilda
A: Curb weight is 3433lbs to 3580lbs depending on whether the Element is front or all-wheel drive (and whether it's manual or automatic - the automatic weighs more). Curb weight includes all fluids etc., but does not include passenger weight.
If you want the exact weight of an Element though, best thing to do would be to weigh it on a truck scale. Many factories have truck scales and may even let you weigh your car for free. (I know the factory I work at won't charge people to weigh their cars or trailers etc.,)
Carsdirect.com has TONS of info on new cars and trucks - they also sell cars and trucks It's a good reference source even if you aren't actually looking to buy a car.
Q: How much money would I get for trading in my 2003 Honda Element with 85k miles?
How much money would I get for trading in my 2003 Honda Element with 85k miles? No mechanical problems
A: the first answer is correct, there are too many variables to answer this question for you accurately..such as where you live, how the vehicle is equiped and what model of Element it is. Your best bet is to go to the Kelly Blue book sight and enter your info. This isn't the same book that the dealer will use but, it will get you in the ballpark.
Q: looking for fairly new but used handicap accessible honda element ?
I'm hoping to find a honda element already modified. If you know where and/or who I can talk to please let me know.
A: Check out the threads at http://www.elementownersclub.com/forums/search.php?searchid=2570325 Also use the search function and do an "advanced search" on threads started by AmandaDi. She is handicapped and has been working on getting a handicapped equipped Element. She may have some insight for you and you can probably contact her by PM (private message).
If you don't find what you're looking for, post a new question in the appropriate thread. This is a very active and friendly site for Honda Element owners.
Update: Corrected EOC link. Try it again if it didn't work before.
Update Update: Huh...the link works initially, then goes away. If you go to the EOC forum and do an advanced search for titles only with the word "handicapped" in them, three different threads come up with several posts.
Q: Where is the OBD2 location on a 2007 Honda Element?
I just bought a scangauge and can't figure out where to plug the cable in on my 2007 Honda Element SC. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
A: I think the OBD connector is under the passenger side dash, close to the center console.
Q: I had to jumpstart my honda element and now the radio is asking for a code?
I battery died so i had my 2004 honda element jump started.. I can't operate the radio because it ask for a code.. Please help I don't have the manual..
A: Honda has a sneaky way of adding that code in inconspicuous places should one ever need it. On my civic there is a sticker on the inside lid of the glovebox lid that has the 5 digit code on it. It is the same code that is on my radio ID card that came with the car.
Alternatively, you will need to take it to a dealership and they can run your VIN and get your code. No big deal at all. Also, the code is NOT written on the radio itself, that defeats the purpose of the anti theft feature. And they only need your VIN if its the original radio that came with your car. They do NOT need to remove the radio from the dash. If they say they do for a fee, they're trying to gouge you out of some money.
Q: Do you know a website where I can buy orange wheel rims for my orange Honda Element?
I have a 2007 orange Honda Element which I am trying to spice up a little bit. I wanted to throw some nice orange rims on it but I can't seem to find some orange rims any where. I am not looking for spinners or anything like that, just some eye catching orange rims. Please let me know if you know of any websites or shops that has any nice orange rims. Thanks in advance for your help.
A: Look on E-bay!
